About Me: Tyson Johnson
My name is Tyson Johnson and I am a lacrosse player and coach in the Pacific Northwest. Growing up in Salem, Oregon, I did not have much access to lacrosse but fell in love with the sport anyway. I quickly found I had a knack for winning the Faceoff, a part of the game I became obsessed with. Upon Graduating high school, I played at the University of Oregon Where I was awarded First Team all-league Faceoff specialist. My sights were then set on achieving All-American status my senior year, but unfortunately I had my season cut short due to COVID.
My Story
After graduating college I began traveling up and down the Pacific Northwest to spread my knowledge of the game. The goal I set out with was to coach kids who, like myself, do not have access to lacrosse coaching. I pursue any opportunity to coach I can find, whether it’s through individual lessons or through clubs, schools and organizations. I never would have set out on this journey however had it not been for my first employer, “Faceoff Factory”. Faceoff Factory, a company run by professional and Faceoff legend Joe Nardella, invited me to host clinics after graduating college.
When my college lacrosse career was cut short, I felt my desire to achieve my lacrosse goals were left unresolved. I began playing in the PNLA, a men’s league that held many former division 1 players and Ex-pros. After that level of competition did not satisfy me, I then sought out to play in the Canadian Semi-professional leagues. I have multiple seasons of experience playing in the “Arena Lacrosse League”, which is a Vancouver Based NLL Feeder league. I also have had the privilege to play for the historic Senior B team the North Shore Indians, a team deeply entrenched in the Squamish Nation of British Columbia. Despite not playing at the NCAA level, I hope to pursue a career playing lacrosse at the most competitive level possible while also trailblazing a path for future players with similar backgrounds to do the same.
I still travel around the Pacific Northwest coaching faceoffs, while also posting Fitness, faceoff and general lacrosse content on social media and sharing the abundance of Faceoff knowledge I have gained over the years.
